Noneillah: Skyzoo Interview

Check out the new Noneillah Exclusive Interview with Skyzoo !!!!

1 Who is Skyzoo /How did you get your name?

I'm an emcee, song writer, storyteller, lyricist, sneaker head, and fitted hat king. Haha.
2 Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I grew up in Bed-Stuy, literally one block away from Biggie Smalls, so inspiration was less than 2 minutes away.
3 Can you describe your sound?

My sound is lyric driven, first and foremost, but besides that, its based on stories. Real life stories and experiences that I've been through and that I see people relate to when they see themselves in the music.
4 Who are your influences?

My influences range musically, from artists within hip hop to jazz to rock. Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Mase, Scarface, Kurt Cobain, its pretty wide.
5 How did you start rapping or start working with music in general?

I started rapping when I was 9, but I approached music as a profession when i was about 19. That's when I took my first steps at a real demo, real shows and opportunities, "paying dues" so to speak.
6 Whats do u like more being an mc or a producer?

Well I'm not a producer so definitely rapping. Haha. But I hope to get into producing one day soon.

7 How the groupies treating you?
Lol, the road is always fun, but its business first, so "groupies" don't take up too much time when the fans and the music and the grind are the top priorities.
8 What are some collaborations you are working on/ Would like to work with?

I've worked with everyone from Lloyd Banks and Maino to Wale and Talib Kweli to Freeway and Styles P to Jill Scott and Raheem Devaughn and John Legend, so I've definitely been blessed to do so much so soon. In the future I'd love to collab with people like Jeezy, Madlib, Pharrell, Kanye and more.
9 Do who have a favorite drug?

I don't do any type of drug at all, so I don't have a favorite.
10 What is your favorite drink?

My favorite drink, as far as alcohol is Hennessy. I'm from Brooklyn, so that's a direction reflection of that.
11 what is your Favorite car

My favorite car is the Range Rover. I have a song on my new album called "Range Rover Rhythm", which shows why that car is the end all be all where im from, and why it means so much to people who grew up the way I did.
12 What coast shows you the most love?

I get love all over, but honestly the northeast because this is where I'm from, so the sound reflects that 100%.
13 Who do you make music for?

I make music for the people, point blank. The dopest thing about making music is that it lasts forever. No matter what happens, the music will always remain, so I make music that I feel will still matter to people long after I'm finished.
14 Are you signed and if so to what label ?

I have my own label, The Faculty/MGA, and I did my last 3 projects with  Duck Down Records.
15 How does it feel to know that you have fans even in Jersey?
Jersey is a dope state. I got peoples in Patterson and Newark and Camden, so its definitely dope. I've been able to build a fan base all over the world, and I'm glad to have Jersey as a part of that.
16 Do you like mainstream or underground better?/And how have u adapted to it?

I honestly like both worlds. The mainstream is what we all aspire towards when we dream, and the underground is full of freedom and options. The best thing about me is the ability to co-exist in both worlds at will. I've adapted to it pretty, better than most honestly.
17 What differs you from all of the other rappers in the game?

Besides the lyricism and me doing that at a higher level than most, its the way people are able to relate to my music. The stories and the versatility in telling both sides of the coin. That's what does it, among other things.
18 What projects are you working on?

I just released my newest album "A Dream Deferred", so I'm pushing that as of now, but I plan on some mixtape stuff at some point next year. I'm still fleshing out the ideas.
